The music video i have chosen is called Sucker for pain
Shots/ Angles that are used in the music video
- In the first three seconds a forward zoom shot is being showed of the prison and a burning cage.
- Then it shows fast glimses of the people in the prison, when doing this they are using a crane shot when the camera is going away from them.
- A close up is used when Ty Dolla starts to rap
- A shot is angled at the sky then goes down angling at logic when he starts do rap
- Deep Focuses are used
- There are some scenes where the shot are from the legs down showing everything else on the floor/street
- The use of a top shot/ birds-eye-view shot is used in three scenes
- Normal shot and mid level shots are used
Summary- Frequently used camera shots and possible reasons for this
In this music video i noticed that fast zooms into peoples faces were used. I think this was used a bit because the producers want to make sure u see the singers faces also i think it gives us the effect that they are talking/ singing straight to us. Another shot that was used frequently was the birds-eye-view shot, and the possible reason that it was used could be to show us the whole picture/ story of what is really going on in the music video. For example when they used a birds-eye-view it was showing all of the building on fire and it looked like destruction.
Deep focuses are used a lot and this may be because even though they are singing thy still want you to pay attention to what is happening in the background. Finally i think that fast crane shots are used a lot because it would be highlighting the persons loneliness; and in this music video i have noticed that all the people featured in it are on their own and in their own little situation that they somehow cannot get out of , for example the man who was in chains being pulled by the dogs or the man that was in an isolation cell by himself. I also think that normal shots and leveled angles that show the whole of the body and background were used in this music video.
